The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu invites applications from qualified Ni-Vanuatu candidates for the position of Statistician.

The Statistician will join the Department of Research and Statistics of the Reserve Bank. The key tasks of the Statistician include:

• Employing the following tools and techniques :
1. Predictive statistical models
2. Segmentation analysis
3. Survey Design and Analysis
4. External Data Enhancement
• Proactive and effective interaction with other internal groups throughout the Bank and external agencies and
• Familiarity with maintaining a department wide database with reference to data entry functions and data tabulation for purpose of publications and in accordance to requirements.
• Demonstrating developed communication skills and ability to relate to individuals of any background or profession with respect to statistical analysis and modeling.
• Knowledge of using quantitative methods to analyze data, detect and fix data problems and ensure data integrity.
• Knowledge and experience to assist in the office’s budget preparation and work plan.
• Able to provide advice on improving the quality, content and quality of statistics.

Be self-motivated and showing initiative, accepting challenges, experienced team player with well developed verbal and communication skills. Managerial experience is a plus.

Position suited for candidates with a Graduate degree in Mathematics and Statistics or related field and supported by demonstrable evidence of work experience in the field. Diplomas will also be considered if candidates have had work experience or hold other additional qualifications or combined equivalent of education and experience in the above field. Strong mathematical background is important but not required.

General Conditions

An attractive remuneration package will be offered which will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applicants should be fluent in both written and spoken English and have a good knowledge of French.
